The Harrison County Fillies middle school soccer team and the HCMS Colts battled tough Woodford County on Tuesday and hosted Grant County last Thursday in the Athletic Complex.
The Fillies battled to a 2-2 tie with the squad thought to be one of the biggest challenges on the schedule.
Early in the match, it was Harrison County’s offense doing the attacking and Woodford County’s goal keeper making great stops.

  • The selection committee and...

The NCAA selection committee has drawn a lot of criticism this year, not only about what teams that were selected but also about where the teams were seeded.
Some teams select themselves when they win their conference tournament or, in the Ivy League’s case, the conference title.  But others, 12 of the 16 left in the Sweet Sixteen, are selected as an at-large team by the selection committee and then seeded according to how the Ouija board decides.

The Harrison County Fillies hit the road for the first two games of the 2016 season and proved successful on both occasions.
Last Thursday, the Fillies visited Campbell County and hammered out 13 hits in a 5-2 win over the Lady Camels.
Campbell County is thought to be vastly improved over the norm but the Fillies’ big bats rocked for the 13 hits. Jami Davis’ pitching gave up only five hits while striking out eight to hold Campbell County to two runs.
