  • Fillies roll past Deming 58-37,...

The Harrison County Fillies spotted Deming a few early points before taking control late in the first quarter in route to a 58-37 district win Wednesday in Cynthiana.
The Fillies were ice cold at first as they were only three of 21 in the opening period yet they took a 13-6 lead by quarter’s end.
The 1-16 Lady Devils were only able to manage two field goals in 13 tries as they were finding getting a good shot to be very difficult against the Fillies’ defense.

  • Thorobreds use solid second half...

BThe game was billed as a battle of the superior team versus the best guard in the area.
The best guard had a lot of trouble showing his stuff but the superior team used good guard play of their own to rally from a halftime deficit to win the game.
The Augusta Panthers brought a sparkling 12-4 record onto the Hilltop Friday and, instead of being a one man show, played good team ball as they battled the Harrison County Thorobreds to a close 63-60 win for the home standing Breds.

  • Doing the same thing over and...

I think that the definition of insanity is repeating an action and expecting a different result or something to that effect.
This is not a political statement at all but one relating to sports.
For instance, how many batters who reach base by walking end up scoring a run?
It doesn’t happen every time but often enough that it might qualify as insanity.
It is more than likely ineptitude since the pitcher doesn’t usually walk someone on purpose.

  • Illness, Lady Panthers defeat...

Fleming County’s Lady Panthers were having an okay year as, after losing all five starters to graduation from last year, they had a 6-8 record so far in 2012-13.
They improved to 7-8 Saturday night when they were the beneficiaries of some Harrison County Fillies’ misfortune.
The evening started out on a bad note when the Harrison County bus rolled into Flemingsburg at 4 p.m. for a scheduled triple header with the freshmen, junior varsity and varsity.
The gym was dark and no one was in sight.
