  • Volleyball Fillies lose twice,...

The trip to Villa Madonna last Thursday didn’t turn out well as the Fillies were swept two straight by the home Blue Lightning squad, 9-25 and 19-25.
The win made Villa Madonna’s record 2-1 while the Fillies evened up their season mark to 1-1.
The Fillies junior varsity also dropped two straight 10-21 and 12-21.
On Monday evening, the Fillies hosted the Lady Pirates of Powell County in a game that disappointed Coach Bill Faulkner.

  • Fillies battle Lady Bearcats to...

On Monday night, the Harrison County Fillies opened the 2012 soccer season by hosting the Anderson County Lady Bearcats. The Lady Bearcats featured a veteran line up of tall and talented players.
The Fillies had several scoring opportunities in the first half but could not push one across while Anderson County played a physical style which led to much contact.
Harrison County took advantage of their speed advantage to have the opportunities that they had but just couldn’t get one into the goal.

  • Breds football shows improvement...

The Harrison County Thorobreds traveled to Grant County Friday night for a three-way scrimmage with the host Braves and the East Jessamine Jaguars.
The scrimmage was scoreless for the night as defense and the format of the scrimmage made it difficult to cross the goal line.
Each team played the other with the offense running 10 plays from their own 30-yard line in an attempt to score.
The Thorobreds had a couple of opportunities to score early, but did not do so and ended the evening scoreless.

  • Playing for fun?

The decision, apparently made by Pendleton County, to not participate in the district contest and to drop Highlands and Covington Catholic from their schedule baffles me somewhat.
Let me first say that it is none of my business and that I have no dogs in the hunt, but still I wonder about it.
