  • Baseball Hall of Fame hosts...

What was the dream of a few men became reality Saturday night as the Cynthiana /Harrison County Alumni Association held its first Hall of Fame Banquet.
The banquet, which was held at the Harrison County High School cafeteria, feted 15 of the county’s best baseball players in a ceremony that lasted for better than three hours.
This was reminiscence of Cynthiana High School and Harrison County High School from before 1919 to the present, with a crowd of more than 100 family, friends and supporters in attendance.

  • Grayson edges Henson for Mooney...

Mason County’s Izzy Grayson sank a long birdie putt on the 18th hole Sunday to win the Joe Mooney Invitational by one stroke over defending champion Joe Henson.
Henson, who is a two-time winner, made his birdie on the hole after narrowly missing an eagle, which would have put the match into a playoff only to see Grayson sink one from more than 10 feet for the win.

  • Auto Systems’ rally falls short...

In the Little League Game of the Week last week, the Auto Systems team rallied for three runs in the bottom of the fifth but came up one run short in an 8-7 loss to LEE.
LEE (Lucas Equine Equipment) jumped on top early in the game as they scored two runs on two hits and an error in the opening inning.
Casey Sledd doubled and scored for Auto Systems in the bottom of the first when he advanced on a single by Thomas Thompson and scored on a wild pitch for a 2-1 score after one.

  • Some odds and ends before the...

I feel like I need to express my concerns and observation about the Recreation Department situation and what I think I know about what is going on there.
As most of us know the director resigned, asked to be rehired all at nearly the same time and is no longer the director.
Jim Roberts is acting director, which is an even more difficult job than being director and he is doing his level best.

  • Coppage plays in East/West Games

The reigning Miss Softball, Ashley Coppage, didn’t have the spectacular performance that she hoped to have last weekend in the annual East/West All Star series.
Her East senior team won two of three games defeating both junior squads and losing in a 10-inning game to the West seniors on an over throw at home with a rain slick ball 3-2.
The three nine-inning games played in two days was a difficult situation for the East seniors as they had only one pitcher due to some players having other commitments.
