  • Thompson signs to play...
  • Fillies improve to 4-3 with wins...

Wednesday night on Shirley Field the Harrison County Fillies made quick work of the Bracken County Lady Bears in a three-inning 16-0 rout.
Junior Jami Davis allowed only two hits, both in the first inning, as she shut down the Lady Bears (0-2).
Bracken County had back-to-back singles with one out in the top of the first but Davis struck out the next two batters to end the game’s only threat.
Harrison County scored four times in the bottom of the first on five hits including three doubles in a row with two outs.

  • The most exciting week in sports?

The NCAA tournament winds down to the last three games, the Masters is played and baseball starts all in the span of one week.
One could argue that this is the year’s most exciting week of sports.
Individually, Super Bowl week or the World Series might challenge one of the three, but put together this week’s events are hard to surpass.

  • Thorobreds remain undefeated...

The Harrison County Thorobreds are undefeated for 2015 as they rallied to beat Paris Wednesday 8-6 in Paris, and swept a doubleheader from Robertson County Monday on the Hilltop.
The home-standing Greyhounds used a single, two walks and two errors to take a three-run lead in the bottom of the first off Logan Kellione.  The Breds tied the score in the second on a two-run home run by Zach Day and an RBI by Noah Mitchell.
Paris scored a single run in the second to regain the lead and then added two more runs in the third for a surprising 6-3 advantage.

  • Fillies win thriller over Bishop...

With two outs in the bottom of the seventh, it looked like extra innings were inevitable. However, a walk to Shelby Ishmael, a base hit by Madison Coppage and a sinking line drive hit for Jami Davis scored Ishmael for a 5-4 win for the Fillies over Bishop Brossart.
Davis’ hit was just out of the reach of Katie Reis, who dove for the ball in an all out effort to prevent the run from scoring.
The Lady Mustangs took a 2-0 lead in the second when first baseman Elizabeth Martin drove in two runners with a two-out single.

  • Breds drop first game 7-5 to...

The Harrison County Thorobreds lost for the first time in 2015 Tuesday night to the Pendleton County Wildcats, 7-5, in Falmouth.
Wildcat senior hurler Josh Brown went the distance for the win striking out six, walking one and allowing eight base hits.
His teammates played very suspect defense committing six errors, but the Wildcats still managed a victory.
The Thorobreds struck for two runs in the top of the first on a base hit by Noah Mitchell, a walk to Luke Slucher and a single by Zach Day.
