  • HCMS Colts vs. Mason Royals at...

    The Harrison County Middle School Colts seventh and eighth grade football teams traveled to Fleming County this past Saturday morning to play the Mason County Royals in the first session of the 2009 Cougar Bowl.

    The HCMS teams have been working hard for nearly a month on fundamentals, technique, plays, and conditioning in preparation for the 2009 season.

  • Fillies rout Mason County

    The Harrison County Fillies soccer team got outstanding performances from Kassy Barnett and Courtney Grannis and overwhelmed home-standing Mason County on Tuesday night, 8-0.

    The win was Harrison County’s third in a row and improved their season record to 4-1.

    Barnett scored a career-high four goals in the win and Grannis contributed with a school-record five assists.

  • Breds drop opener to Montgomery...

    The Harrison County Thorobreds got their 2009 football campaign off to a rocky start last Friday night in Mt. Sterling as they frittered away a 26-14 lead and were defeated by host Montgomery County in the 62nd Annual Recreation Bowl, 27-26.

    Friday’s game had more twists and turns than KY 36 has between Cynthiana and Williamstown.

    First, the Thorobreds were dangerously close to being blown out in the first half.

    Montgomery County ran roughshod over the Breds in the first quarter, both offensively and defensively and led 14-0.

  • Fillies beat Lady Jags for 8-4...

    The Harrison County High School varsity volleyball team traveled to East Jessamine High School Tuesday evening, where the Fillies beat the Lady Jags, 25-18 in the first match, and 25-12 in the second match.

    “It was a nice victory Tuesday night against a quality team,” said Coach Bill Faulkner.

    While Faulkner said the varsity Fillies made several mistakes in the first match, including four serving errors, he said the team improved throughout the night.

    Fall baseball and soccer sign-ups

    this weekend

    The Cynthiana Harrison County Recreation Department will be taking sign-ups for fall baseball and soccer leagues this Saturday, Aug. 29, from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Sports Unlimited off Connersville Road.

     

    HCHS season passes on sale

    Season ticket prices and game admission prices will remain unchanged for the 2009-10 school year, with one additional option available .

  • Fillies shut out Lady Cats,...

    The Harrison County Fillies soccer team earned its second win of the year, three decisions, on Monday night as they smashed visiting Pendleton County 5-0.

    The Fillies led 2-0 at halftime on goals by Courtney Grannis and Shelby Clifford then broke the game open in the second half. Kassy Barnett scored to make it 3-0, Grannis scored again to make it 4-0 and then Randi Schweitzer capped the night with her first career varsity goal.

    Tiffany Snider was in goal for the Fillies and registered her second shutout of the season.

    HCHS season passes

    Season ticket prices and game admission prices will remain unchanged for the 2009-10 school year, with one additional option available .

    At the new stadium, there are 300 chair back seats in the middle section of the bleachers. Those seats will be offered as reserved seats for $50 per seat. If a family ,or group, purchases at least four seats, they will also receive a parking pass that will get them a reserved parking spot close to the stadium.

  • Fillies win, Breds lose in...

    The Harrison County Fillies got off to a good start for the 2009 season with a big 5-0 win over visiting St. Patrick on Monday night at LeBus Field.

    Leading the way for the Fillies was Kassy Barnett. The junior forward notched a hat trick on Monday scoring three goals. Seniors Courtney Grannis and Ashley Lyons both added goals for the Fillies as well.

    “Kassy was able to finish balls that were crossed from the other side of the field and this is for sure something we have been working on,” said HCHS Head Coach Kim Jenkins.

  • Carroll era begins Saturday for...

    The pre-season is nearly over and the games will now count for real as first year head coach Mark Carroll leads his Harrison County Thorobreds this Saturday in the regular season opener against Montgomery County in the 62nd Recreation Bowl in Mt. Sterling.
