  • Memorial Day Week, celebrate and...

Baseball games all over the Major League on Sunday and Monday celebrated the members of the armed forces both present and past in ceremonies before and during the ball games.
This is a wonderful tribute to the men and women who are protecting us from our enemies, which, considering the number we apparently have, is quite a daunting task.
The most touching that I saw was in Atlanta when the Braves, with help from the Army, surprised a soldier’s family by bringing him home and to the game to see them.

  • ‘Good season’ gone for Fillies...

The Bourbon County Lady Colonels behind a 10-hit attack edged the Harrison County Fillies Monday night/Tuesday morning in the final game of the quarter finals of the 10th Region Softball Tournament in Campbell County.
The Lady Colonels moved to 30-9 with the 7-6 win while Harrison County’s season ended at 23-12-1.
Bourbon County scored first on an opening game single by center fielder Destinee Arnold and a double by second baseman Ariel Dailey.

  • Both Fillies and Breds win 38th...

Both the Harrison County Fillies and the Harrison County Thorobreds won the 38th District Championship by defeating Nicholas County in the championship game.
The Fillies won in a six-inning game, 11-1, as they struck for 17 hits and drew five walks for the sixth district championship in a row.
The game was scoreless until the third when, with one out, Ashley Coppage doubled followed by back-to-back singles by Kecia Stephens and Jami Davis to score two runs.
