  • Cross country teams run in two...

The Harrison County Cross Country teams ran in the newly established Bourbon County All Comers Meet last Thursday and had a very successful outing.
There were not many teams running in the meet and the Fillies had no competition at all.
They ran well on the new course which was not marked as well as needed as the Bourbon County hosts had some first meet issues.

  • It is always darkest before the...

A few different topics that are rolling around in my mind.
First, to the title of the article, which has to do with Harrison County High School football. I believe that the current freshman class will join forces enough next year with the current underclassmen to make a pretty good football team.

  • Freshman football team finishes...

The Harrison County freshman team used three interceptions and some hard running to defeat rival Bourbon County 26-22 Monday and finish the conference season 7-0.
The freshmen do have a non-conference game with Bracken County in Brooksville on Monday which will wrap up this season’s play.
The home-standing freshmen Colonels took the opening kick off in the Monday battle but on the second play from scrimmage, quarterback Trevor Lucky was intercepted by Malcolm Walker of Harrison County.

  • Covington Catholic dominates 2nd...

The first quarter and most of the first half saw Harrison County hold its own with the fourth rated team in 4A but the Covington Catholic Colonels beat them down in the second half for a 42-6 win Friday night.
The Senior Night crowd saw the Thorobreds go three and out on the game’s first offensive possession and the Colonels’ Sam Dressman carry the pigskin 54 yards on the fifth play for Covington Catholic.
After the visitors established the 7-0 lead, the home fans had to be saying ‘here we go again.’

  • Winner, winner, district winners

The Harrison County Fillies and Thorobreds traveled to Pendleton County and Mason County and brought home the 38th District Championships last week to advance with byes to the 10th Region Tournament.
The boys will travel to Montgomery County for the region while the girls will host right here at the Athletic Complex beginning Monday night with two matches.  Boys’ play will begin Tuesday with the Thorobreds playing Thursday night at 5:30.

In the second match of the night in Mt. Olivet the Harrison County Fillies advanced to the championship of the 38th District Tournament with a four-set win over the Lady Devils of Robertson County.
The first match of the evening saw the Nicholas County Lady Jackets (7-21) take a five-set victory over Pendleton County (5-25). This will mean the Nicholas County girls and the Fillies will return on Wednesday to Robertson County to battle for the championship at 7 p.m.
