  • Fillies spank Lady Indians, 4-1

The Harrison County Fillies soccer team controlled the match from start to finish Wednesday night in the Athletic Complex taking a 4-1 win over Montgomery County.
“We have been encouraging the girls to look over the past several matches and not fall behind early in matches,” said Coach Kevin Gaunce. “They responded by playing the most complete game of the season beginning and ending the match focused on the job at hand.”

  • Fillies golfers defeat Bourbon...

On Wednesday, Sept. 17, the Fillies golfers traveled to Paris and took on the Bourbon County Lady Colonels on the Houston Oaks Golf Course.
Harrison County won the match by a narrow six-stroke margin thanks largely to medalist Sarah Holland who fired a 46 in the nine-hole event.
Seventh grader Anna Midden was next for the Fillies as she shot a 56, followed by Sarah Durbin (58) and Christina Wilson (60).  Morgan Nelly, Kenzie Jones and Tori Aubrey also played for the Fillies.

  • Who or what is the moral compass...

I am having so much fun as of late I hate to write a serious article, but this has been weighing on my mind and I feel the need to share.
When I was a youngster back in the Middle Ages I never once thought of a sports person as a hero or someone that was going to show me right from wrong.
Don’t get me wrong, I admired athletes for their ability in their chosen fields and wanted to play like them but that was it.
They were playing a game and not being a role model for me.

  • Central Shaolin Martial Arts Test
  • Cross Country teams do well in...

Last Tuesday’s Bourbon County All-Comer’s Meet saw Thorobreds runner Ross Smith lead the pack as he won the 26-competitor run in 18:30 for the 5,000M.
The Thorobreds did not have enough runners to compete for the team championship, which was unfortunate since Daniel Craig was 10th and Shane Palmer 15th, which would have been a good score.
The Fillies were also short some runners for the girls’ 5,000M run.
Abby Cooper led the Fillies with a 12th place finish followed by Tamara Lunsford and Chelsea Bowman.

  • Colonels run up 49-0 win over...

The Harrison County Thorobreds continued to show some improvement but after a solid first quarter defensively they fell to Bourbon County, 49-0, Friday night on the Hilltop.
The Breds recovered Bourbon County’s on-side kick to start the game at the Harrison County 48-yard line.
Christian Sinckler gained five yards on the first play from scrimmage but from that point forward, the Breds would not be able to run the football with any success.

Thorobreds’ JV run over Bourbon County Monday
The Harrison County Thorobreds ran the ball right at the Bourbon County Colonels Monday night in Paris as they romped to a 28-6 win in junior varsity competition.
Luke Slucher and Logan Kellione each ran in scores in the second quarter after the first period was scoreless.  Austin Jackson kicked the extra points and the score was 14-0 at the half.
Kellione scored again in the third period with Jackson’s kick making the score 21-0 at the end of that period.
