  • Claypool’s two-hitter propels...

    Mike Aldridge,
    Sports Writer

Junior CJ Claypool didn’t allow a hit until the fifth inning and his teammates pushed across three runs in the third as the Harrison County Thorobreds won at Carlisle 4-0 Tuesday night.
Claypool struck out 13 and walked only one while allowing two hits in a dominating performance over the Nicholas County Bluejackets.
Second baseman Mercer Wills was the only Jackets player to reach as far as second base in the game.

  • Fillies win 3 of 4 in Vernon...

    Mike Aldridge,
    Sports Writer

The Harrison County Fillies improved to 7-3 over the weekend as they won over Owen County (3-4) Friday night, lost to Shelby County (6-3) Friday and defeated both Walton Verona (3-9) and Garrard County (8-6) on Saturday.
The Owen County game was never really in doubt largely due to the dominance of senior hurler Jami Davis.  Davis struck out seven and allowed only one hit in the Fillies’ 9-0 shutout win.

  • Fillies win, Colts lose in...

    Mike Aldridge,
    Sports Writer

A spring break match with Lexington Christian Academy proved to be good for the Harrison County Middle School Fillies, but not so much for the Colts.
The Fillies took an early lead and expanded it for a 4-1 win while the Colts lost a hard-fought 3-1 match.
The Colts showed some “spring break legs” at the beginning of the match as Lexington Christian scored a couple of goals early and then a momentum crusher with three seconds left in the half for a 0-3 lead.

  • Character assassination

    Mike Aldridge,
    Sports Writer

Did you ever have a tooth ache or an ache somewhere else that you just put up with hoping that it would just go away?
That is how I feel about the situation at Rowan County with Ray Graham.
I haven’t written anything because I thought surely the people with good sense in Rowan County would realize that Kim Davis had already made them look moronic and they needed to step in to remedy an injustice.
    But I was wrong.
