  • Soccer Fillies win third...

    The Harrison County Fillies faced a tough, determined Mason County squad Wednesday in the finals of the 38th District tournament.  
    Mason County featured nine seniors with speed and athleticism on its own field. The Fillies had struggled some with the Lady Royals earlier in the season in Cynthiana winning only 2-1.

    The first round of the 38th District volleyball tournament was held Tuesday night in Mt. Olivet with Nicholas County and Harrison County advancing to the finals on Wednesday.  
    The Fillies won in straight sets over the Lady Cats, 25-19, 25-9 and 25-17.  
    Pendleton County put up a spirited fight for the first set leading as deep as 18-17 in the match.

    The two teams, Bishop Brossart and Harrison County, did not play in regular season. The Thorobreds were not the team that the Mustangs expected as the gritty underdog battled them tooth and nail before losing 2-0 Monday night in the second regional quarterfinal match at Campbell County.  
    Pendleton County rolled past Bourbon County 4-2 in the evening’s first encounter.

    Volleyball team wins at Bracken
    The Harrison County Fillies volleyball team improved to 34-0 Tuesday with a straight set win at Bracken County.  
    The Fillies won by 25-11 and 25-14.  Bracken County falls to 7-22 with the loss. The Fillies will play their last regular season match on Thursday when they travel to Scott High School.  The Lady Eagles will be 20-13 when they face the Fillies.

  • Volleyball setting new records...

    The Harrison County volleyball team is undefeated for the season which is a tremendous accomplishment for the girls and the coaches.  Thirty-three wins to date with a match at Bracken County Tuesday and one at Scott High on Thursday to wrap up the regular season.  
    For some time, the HCHS girls have been the only undefeated team in the Commonwealth which, again, is a great achievement.

    “An awesome and emotional Senior Night for players and coaches alike,” was Coach Kevin Gaunce’s description of Wednesday’s final regular season match for the Harrison County Fillies soccer team.  
    The Senior Night was also successful as the Fillies used an Abby Stroub assist to freshman Anna Garrison with eight minutes to play in the first half to secure the 1-0 win.

    The Harrison County Thorobreds soccer team avenged an early season loss to the Mason County Royals by defeating the Royals 3-1 in the first round of the 38th District Tournament.  
    The win improves the Breds to 5-10-2 while the Royals season ends with a 5-9-2 mark.

    It was throwback-Friday with the cheerleaders in uniforms of the past and a good crowd on hand.  It was Senior Night for golf and the band. All was in place for the Harrison County football Breds to win their first game of the 2017 campaign.
