The Harrison County Middle School Fillies traveled to Bourbon County Thursday and basically broke even with the Lady Colonels.  The sixth grade won 22-20 but then lost 16-21 to tie.  The seventh grade dropped their match 17-21, 21-19 and 16-18.  The eighth grade continued its winning ways with a 21-15, 22-20 win.

  • Basketball can be fun

If you only follow the Harrison County Thorobreds basketball, the title to this article may not yet apply to you. I hope that it will soon.
For the rest of the Harrison County basketball world, basketball is fun right now and in some areas, it will be for the duration of the season.
The Fillies are undefeated after their first four games rolling to 25-plus point wins in their first games. If you are a fan of either the University of Kentucky or the University of Louisville, things have started out well.

The Harrison County Fillies won Thursday and Saturday with their new running style of basketball beating Lexington Christian Academy on the Hilltop and at Bellevue.
Thursday, Madison Kellione poured in 28 points to lead the Fillies in a game marred by 56 fouls called on the two teams.  Both teams had difficulty establishing any consistency with the whistle-blowers halting play on what seemed to be inconsequential contact.

After playing Eighth Region power Collins even for the first period the Harrison County Thorobreds managed only five points in the second period and went on to fall 83-44 Friday in Shelbyville. The game was the season opener for last year’s Eighth Region champion and the second game for the Breds.

The Harrison County Fillies played their second game without their leading scorer Madison Kellione and freshman starter Elizabeth Allison Tuesday night on the Hilltop and came away with a 50-43 win over West Jessamine.
It wasn’t easy.  West Jessamine put up a fight but in the end the Fillies balance and a big second half from junior Sydney Morris was too much for the visiting squad.
