  • Thorobreds finish second in...

The Harrison County Thorobreds wrestling team traveled to Paintsville Saturday morning and finished second in the Johnson Central Duals.
The Breds were undefeated in dual match ups beating Pikeville, 54-15, Sheldon Clark, 42-28, and Johnson Central “B,” 45-18.
The Breds accomplished this with several members of the team not wrestling due to injury and illness.
The 113- pound Michael Mattox, 170 lbs Colin Coy and 220 lbs Kellon Williams were winners in their weight classes.

  • Who would want this job?

There are good and bad parts to every job but there are some jobs that are thankless in my eyes, especially in sports.
I thought about this last night when I was talking to Harrison County athletic director Brad Allison.
Take his job for instance.  There is an athletic event of some sort nearly every evening of the week and most weekends.
Either Brad or Scott Fields is in attendance for whatever is going on, especially at home, but also on the road at times.

  • HCMS Colts split games at...

The eighth grade Colts improved to 8-2 and the seventh grade Colts remained winless at 0-11 following Thursday games at Woodford County.
The seventh grade trailed 12-0 before staging a rally led by the sixth grade players.
By the end of the third quarter, the once double digit deficit was cut to two points with the Yellowjackets leading 24-22.
The home-standing Woodford County team won the fourth quarter by two baskets to win the game 37-31.
Logan Cummins and Tayshaun Custard each scored 10 points to lead in scoring.

  • Breds 4-1 after win over Scott...

The Harrison County Thorobreds handed Scott High its first loss of the season. The Thorobreds defeated the Eagles 85-79 on the Hilltop Tuesday night.
The win improves the Breds record to 4-1 with a date Friday night at home with 1-1 Covington Holmes.
Holmes is coached by former Harrison County coach, Mike Listerman.
Listerman coached Harrison County head coach Larry Kendall and assistant coach Jamie Case while at Harrison County.

  • Harrison County wins Rumble on...

Harrison County’s Thorobreds wrestling team had four undefeated champions, two second place, six third place, and one fourth place finisher as they won the Rumble on the Hilltop Saturday.
The meet, which was held at the Harrison County Middle School, saw the Breds finish with 215 points to Scott County’s 209 ½ to win the event.
Perry County Central was a distant third with 110 followed by Bourbon County, Madison Southern, Franklin County, Tates Creek, Grant County, Western Hills, Lexington Catholic and Bryan Station.
