  • HCHS Cheerleaders win 10th...

The Harrison County High School cheerleaders, competing in the small division, won the 10th Region Championship Saturday. They defeated George Rogers Clark and Campbell County for the title.
The small division, which indicates 12 girls competing, is the most difficult of the competition. Not only because 12 girls are competing, but also because the perennial top teams are in this division.

  • Eighth grade Colts win...

Harrison County Middle School’s Invitational Tournament had very good results for the eighth grade team as they easily won the championship game Saturday, 66-26, over Nicholas County.
Thomas Thompson led the Colts in scoring with 11 points while Quentin Turley scored nine. Spencer Free and Quentin Pratt each tallied eight points.
The Colts jumped out to a 19-0 lead after one quarter and the game was never in doubt.

  • Fillies edge Hazard in first...

The Harrison County Fillies defeated the Hazard Lady Bulldogs Saturday in the Tates Creek Panorama played at Henry Clay.
The game was an unorthodox two 16-minute halves with a continuous clock so there really wasn’t much playing time.
The Fillies won the contest 19 to 15.
Hazard played a zone-on defense causing the Fillies to shoot from the perimeter but Harrison County struggled to find the range.

  • Good things in sports

I am writing this on Veterans’ Day so it is only right that I comment on the heroes that allow us to live as free as we do even though that is eroding somewhat.

But first, I want to mention some good things in sports that are going on right around us.
