  • Odds and ends

There is a segment now and then on Mike and Mike when they end each story with “Come on man!”  I have an item that would fit in that segment for this week.
It seems that a couple of weeks ago when our soccer Breds were playing at Mason County, action got a little out of hand.
Some of the players were in discord but nothing that the officials could not take care of in their regular duties.
But some Mason County parents jumped the fence to get out onto the field to try to “help” none-the-less.

Harrison County’s volleyball Fillies ran into one of the state’s top teams Thursday night and came out on the short end of a 2-0 decision.
The Scott High Lady Eagles improved to 26-8 with the 10-25, 14-25 straight set win.  Junior Kelly Franxman was the leader for Scott with multiple kills as she lifted her 6’3” frame over the net for several slams.

    Harrison County beats
    Bourbon JV/frosh
Monday night was what Harrison County fans hope was a preview of this Friday as the junior varsity/freshman team defeated their Bourbon County counterparts, 20-8.
The Breds scored two rushing touchdowns and one by air to outscore the Colonels. Tyler Watts caught a touchdown throw from Quentin Pratt. Pratt and Keondre Powell each ran for a score for the Breds.  Dylan Lewis picked off a pass from Bourbon County for the Breds’ defense.

  • Fillies win district with 6-0...

    Mike Aldridge,

The Harrison County Fillies played in Mason County Wednesday but it felt like a home game as the Fillies were home on the scoreboard and mastered the game like they were playing at home.
The match on paper appeared to be fairly even but the only thing even was that both teams started with eleven players.

  • Extra waterfowl blind drawing...

Doug Travis Wildlife Management Area (WMA) in Hickman and Carlisle counties will hold a special quota hunt for one blind accessible by mobility-impaired hunters.
This opportunity became available after the publication deadline of the current Kentucky Hunting Guide for Waterfowl. It is not listed with the other mobility impaired quota hunts cited in the guide.
