Only about four minutes of a defensive and rebounding lapse was all that it took for the Harrison County Thorobreds to lose to Scott High Tuesday night.
The 1-3 Thorobreds allowed Scott to have easy baskets and offensive rebounds in a four or five minute stretch from late in the first period into the second quarter.
Other than that brief period of time, the Breds played right with the defending Tenth Region champions on the Scott High floor.

In the traditional boy/girl doubleheader with Nicholas County the Harrison County Breds and Fillies both were involved in two-point games.  The Thorobreds came out on top 71-69 and the Fillies were on the short end of a 54-52 score.
The Breds game was close throughout with neither team gaining more than an eight point advantage.  The first half belonged to the home standing Bluejackets on the strength of accuracy from the field.

When Johnson Central retracted the invitation to its tournament last weekend the Harrison County wrestling team found a replacement tournament in the Derby City Classic.
This tournament was made up of almost exclusively of larger schools but the Breds fared well.  The Harrison County High School squad finished second, 40 points behind Madison Central.

  • A refreshing contrast

I don’t like writing about the flag protests but something that is going on in the high school basketball games made me want to mention it again.
The unfortunate method of protest chosen by some in the National Football League has brought about national attention for a few along with some other ridiculous accolades from misguided media.

The Harrison County Middle School Fillies had a bad night Wednesday in Georgetown as Scott County Middle School won all three volleyball matches over the visiting squad.
The sixth grade lost 11-21, 12-21.  The seventh grade was out-done 13-21 and 7-21 losing two straight sets.  The eighth grade did win one set going down in three 17-21, 21-18 and 8-15.
