Breds drop two
The Mississippi baseball trip did not go as well as hoped for the Harrison County Thorobreds as the now 10-5 Breds dropped two games in the whirlwind southern tour.
Harrison County lost to D’lberville 8-7 on Saturday and was swept 10-0 by Gulfport Monday.
Coach Mac Whitaker stood only three wins away from 1,000 after last Wednesday’s 8-3 win over the Bath County Wildcats on the Hilltop.
This win came late as the teams were close at 3-2 in favor of the Breds before the Thorobreds put three on the board in the fifth and two more in the sixth for the victory.
Freshman starter Nathan Fryman along with senior Jordan Riley and sophomore Austin Reffett combined to allow seven hits while striking out nine Bath County batters and walking three.
Steven W. Price, who escaped from the Grant County Detention Center on Thursday, April 3, was captured Thursday night after an off-duty Cynthiana Police Officer recognized Price and called for an on-duty officer.
