Casen Evan Fields was born to Myah Fields and Josh Fields of Georgetown on April 8, 2013 at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington, Ky.
He weighed 4 lbs. 3 oz.
Maternal grandparents are Darren Ecklar (Jennifer Webb) of Richmond and Christina Riggs of Lexington; maternal great-grandparents are Gary and Janice Duckworth of Georgetown, Carlene Ecklar of Cynthiana, and Rex Ecklar of Cynthiana.

Trey Alan Wood

Trey Alan Wood was born to Lucas and Stephanie Wood of Cynthiana on March 26, 2013 at Central Baptist Hospital.
He weighed 7 lbs. 2 oz., and is welcomed by his sister, Madison Wood.
Maternal grandparents are Anthony and Karen Perkins of Cynthiana.
Paternal grandparents are Jessie and Venita Wood of Cynthiana.

Harrison County hunter education
class scheduled for May 20-22
If you plan on hunting this year and haven’t taken a safe hunter education class, you need to sign up for this class.
A safe hunter education class will be held May 20-22 at the Harrison County Extension Office. The classes are from 6-9 p.m. The 10-hour class is free, open to the public, and all materials are provided for each student. You must be nine years old or older to take the class.

The harriCYN Community Theatre has been awarded the Chamber of Commerce Spirit of the Arts Award.

The Spirit of the Arts Award is a special recognition only given to those who express a great passion and support for arts in Harrison County.

Trooper demonstrates K9 prowess at Citizens Police Academy

Tpr. Ryan Gosser brought his canine drug partner to the Kentucky State Police Citizens’ Police Academy, which is held at the Licking Valley campus. He demonstrated how the dog will locate drugs in a vehicle and be rewarded by playing with a ball.

True fact: I am not a professional photographer.
Another true fact: I am in desperate need of — something.
As I write this I’m sitting in a park pavilion early on a Saturday morning. I’m supposed to be taking photos of a kids’ triathlon for the newspaper, but right now, as the littlest kids are in the pool and on their bikes and running their little legs off, I’m NOT taking their pictures.
Recently, I bought a jazzy new camera, a red one, with a zoomy lens.

To error is human to admit it, not likely

Using replay in sports to verify a call is a hot subject with many pros and cons including what to do if a mistake is found.  
The biggest issue in all sports that have replay is the time it takes to view the film and either verify or correct the call.  
Hockey, believe it or not, has the best system and the fastest.  
Hockey has an independent person or persons in a film room somewhere in Canada with all games being played on video screens around the room.
