When Charlie Garnett retired as branch manager of Fifth-Third Bank in Cynthiana, he said that he planned to stay out of regular work until he ran out of money.
“I made it to Wednesday,” he joked.
Then opportunity, in the form of the Farmers Deposit Bank leadership, came knocking with an offer for him to be the Harrison County branch manager.
Garnett surprised himself a bit when he accepted the offer. He honestly expected to spend more than five days as an official retiree.

Annastasia Hicks has been named to the Dean’s List for the winter/spring terms at Centre College, an honor reserved for students who maintain at least a 3.60 grade point average.
Hicks is the daughter of John and Tamera Hicks of Cynthiana and is a graduate of Harrison County High School.
