Daniel Josiah Lee “Danny Jo” Wilson

Daniel Josiah Lee “Danny Jo” Wilson was born to Thomas and Layla Wilson of Cynthiana on Jan. 7, 2013 at Harrison Memorial Hospital.
He weighed 8 lbs. 3 oz., and is welcomed by his brother D.J. Wilson.
Maternal grandparents are Danny Dale and Zona Fryman, both of Cynthiana; maternal great-grandparents are the late Leroy and Ruth Fryman and the late Nora Henson.

MCTC/LVC demonstrates nursing simulation to CHP Employer Advisory Committee at May meeting

MCTC/Licking Valley Campus hosted the Community Health Partnership Employer Advisory Committee meeting on Wednesday, May 8.  
The meeting was held at the campus in the nursing simulation lab in the Health Sciences Wing and the hosts were college faculty, staff and student representatives.   
The CHP Employer Advisory  is comprised of a group of physicians, hospital staff members, city and county government officials and other employers. The group has been meeting quarterly since 1999.

Using replay in sports to verify a call is a hot subject with many pros and cons including what to do if a mistake is found.  
The biggest issue in all sports that have replay is the time it takes to view the film and either verify or correct the call.  
Hockey, believe it or not, has the best system and the fastest.  
Hockey has an independent person or persons in a film room somewhere in Canada with all games being played on video screens around the room.

Scammers preying on those helping others

Why should I be receiving press releases with headings like “Seniors informed on how to avoid fraud,” and “KU customers warned about bill-payment scam?”
Now, with the recent storm tragedies in Oklahoma, there will be new scams popping up all over.
I can remember my grandmother shaking her head as the news flicked across her old black and white television in the 70s exclaiming “What is this world coming to?”
Today, I’m asking that same question and scratching  my head with no answer in sight.

HCHS graduation is Friday at Athletic Complex

 

If the weather holds, the Class of 2013 will walk across the stage at the Athletic Complex to grab the piece of a paper that gives them admission to the rest of their lives.

Lawler has been appointed as LVC’s academic coordinator

As a result of his passion for teaching, David Lawler, was appointed to be the academic coordinator during the fall of 2012.  
He has been a full time professor of biology and math at the Licking Valley Campus since August 2001.  
Lawler continues to teach biology and said, “I have a passion for my material and when you have students that want to learn, then it’s rewarding when they reflect that back to you.”

Thorobreds close season with rout of Walton Verona, loss to Scott County

The Harrison County Thorobreds’ bats came to life for a little while on Wednesday when they pounded out 11 hits in five innings to shut out Walton Verona (10-15) by a 10-0 score on the Hilltop.  
Junior Zach Royce drove in four of the runs with a first inning sacrifice fly and a fourth inning  three-run home run to lead Harrison County who improved to 19-6 with the win.  
Brandon Kendall, Jordan Martin and Noah Mitchell each had two hits for Harrison County.  

Breds rip Black Devils, await Bluejackets/Wildcats winner

Five young Harrison County pitchers combined to throw a no hitter and the Thorobreds put 16 runs on the board for an easy 16-0 win over Robertson County in the opener of the 38th District Monday night.  
Sophomores Austin Reffett and Alex Kinsey, freshman Gus Garrison, lightly used junior Christian Persinger and eighth grader Nathan Fryman combined to strike out six and walk only one in the five-inning game.  
The Breds’ batters had 13 hits, drew seven walks and had one batter hit by a pitch to put base runners on in each inning except the first.

Case reports
April 18 – At 12:46 p.m., Sedrick Nelson reported that he had sold a motorized wheelchair on Craig’s List. He said he had received the check for $2,700 for the payment of the $800 wheelchair. The check was verified as a forgery. He was to advise the buyer when the check cleared the bank and he was to send $1,700 back to the buyer via Western Union. Nelson turned the check over to police.
April 22 – At 10:34 a.m., Jie Lin of the China House reported that the Bridge Street restaurant was broken into overnight and about $800 taken.
