Approximately 25-30 volunteers prepared 414 holiday meal boxes for a Christmas delivery. Families in need were given meals. The boxes were ready for pickup on Friday, Dec. 19, and each box was numbered by how many family members were in the household. Donated bags of candy and toys were also given out.
Participating churches in Cynthiana and Harrison County were given a specific food item to collect. Money was also donated for the purchase of turkeys. The project was sponsored by the Harrison County Food Pantry.
The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and the U.S. Fire Administration (USFA) are teaming up for the fourth year to promote their joint campaign, “Put a Freeze on Winter Fires,” which works to educate the public about potential fire hazards during the winter months and holiday season.
