In 2012, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services launched the Partnership for Patients’ Hospital Engagement Network. Through that program, many Kentucky birthing hospitals joined together to reduce the number of elective inductions and cesarean deliveries performed before 39 weeks of pregnancy. Harrison Memorial Hospital was one of the participating hospitals.

Mike Aldridge recently wrote an article titled Tragedy in our county. And, I realize he was referring to the death of young Brett Persinger. I agree losing him is a tragedy; he sounds like a wonderful young man who had a great future ahead of him, and he was important to so many.
However, after reading this article, I realized something else that is a tragedy, the attitude of some people, namely Mr. Aldridge.
Cynthiana Fire Department assistant chief Joey Nelson cautioned those who use freshly cut Christmas trees to make sure they are kept watered and moist.
Last week, at the regular monthly Chamber of Commerce meeting, Nelson and several CFD firefighters staged a demonstration of what can happen if a spark ignites a dry and brittle Christmas tree.
“It takes almost no time at all for a dry Christmas tree to catch fire and spread through an entire house,” Nelson said.
