The 2014 Harrison County Extension Leadership Event will be held on Tuesday, April 8 in the Harrison County High School cafeteria. Registration will begin at 5:30 p.m. with the program and meal beginning at 6 p.m.

Case reports March 19 -- At 8:43 a.m., Janice Hunter-Skaggs, 324 Hillside Drive, reported that her debit/credit card was used in Robertson, Nicholas and Harrison County to get cash totaling $826.50. On March 21, she notified that an individual whom she declined to identify, had repaid all except $50 of the cash taken from her account. She told police that she did not want to press charges.
Better Business Bureau serving Central and Eastern Kentucky is warning of a jury duty phone scam that tricked a Fayette County woman into paying a $500 “fine” for allegedly missing jury duty.
The woman tells BBB she received a phone call at home Tuesday night from a man identifying himself as an “officer” with the Fayette County Warrant Division.
He told her she had failed to appear for jury duty and was in contempt of court. He told her she must pay a fine over the phone to avoid being arrested immediately.

Coach Mac Whitaker stood only three wins away from 1,000 after last Wednesday’s 8-3 win over the Bath County Wildcats on the Hilltop.
This win came late as the teams were close at 3-2 in favor of the Breds before the Thorobreds put three on the board in the fifth and two more in the sixth for the victory.

Steven W. Price, who escaped from the Grant County Detention Center on Thursday, April 3, was captured Thursday night after an off-duty Cynthiana Police Officer recognized Price and called for an on-duty officer.
