  • Friend found thanks to readers

    To the editor:

Many thanks for printing my last “Letter to the Editor.” We found Carl Taylor at the Veterans Center in Wilmore and I have received a letter from him. I’m so grateful to connect with him once again.
Just one person replied to my letter in your paper and that was Jeanette Sowder of Cynthiana, but that’s all it took. I’m very grateful that she took the time to write me. I may have a new pen pal!
Thank you for your phone call and the follow-up to my inquiry.

  • City does not need parking lot

    To the editor:

Thank you Becky Barnes for your editorial concerning another parking lot on Pike Street. I agree with you completely.
If the building on Pike and Walnut Sts. must be torn down, let’s turn the area into a pretty little park. We would have something that we could be proud of - not another parking lot.
    A very concerned citizen.

  • Finding ways to improve Kentucky's roads

If there is one issue that binds today’s legislators with our counterparts who served more than two centuries ago, it’s finding ways to improve Kentucky’s roads.

  • Signs, Signs, Everywhere a Sign

It may come as a surprise to some, although I don’t know who, that there is a local election coming up in May.
Even if you don’t know that in Kentucky election years changed a few years back so that county races all fall at the same time, you surely have seen all the ‘VOTE FOR ME’ signs.
The idea behind moving elections was to save counties money by not having to have some sort of local election and possibly a primary every year.
What it has created is a muddle of election signs all at one time.

  • Machines are too smart to take over:

Some mornings ... well, let’s just say that there are mornings that can start so badly that its better to have tea in the office than coffee.

  • Berry Data Center too important to lose

    To the editor:
If I were a candidate in the up and coming election, I would listen carefully to what the citizens are saying about the current situations in my backyard. I would want to know why they don’t like the new bypass, why they don’t want money wasted on the perspective boat dock with summer water levels at 2” deep, and more importantly, what the teens and young adults in my neighborhood are doing with their leisure time.

  • Planning gives way to action in Senate

There are many moments in the legislative process when planning gives way to action.
