  • Maysville Community and Technical College considers name change

    By Stephen Vacik, President, MCTC

Some years ago, more than I really care to remember, there was a very popular advertising campaign for a camera company, with tennis star Andre Agassi as the celebrity spokesperson (he had hair and was really famous, millennials). The commercial showed Agassi playing both on and off the court, with the famous tag line, “image is everything.”  In other words, the way people view us matters.

  • Cynthiana..’The Little Town That Could’

Last week I took a much need hiatus to Florida and it gave me time to let the entirety of The Walking Dead Day sink in.

Two months ago, I posted a Facebook post asking for Walking Dead super fans to help with a top secret project.

I’m not sure my friends quite knew what they were getting into, but they committed to the very end.

I can remember sitting in the Chamber at that first meeting, not really sure how big the event would be.

This is no doubt one of the busiest times of the year.

There is much to look forward to in the coming weeks. So before you complain that there is nothing to do in Cynthiana, check out some of the things coming our way.

This weekend is something new and will bring some beautiful motorcycles to our streets.

It’s a first-ever Bike Night, and is being offered as a precursor to Cynthiana’s Rod Run, which is the following weekend, Saturday, Aug. 27.

  • Cynthiana is bustling with activities in August, September

Wow! What a fantastic weekend it was in Cynthiana.

Kudos to Tomi Clifford and her committee for pulling together The Walking Dead Day.  I hope everyone enjoyed seeing our streets full of visitors and zombies.

So many great events are happening in our small town and it is exciting!

Up next, Cynthiana Rod Run Events. This will be the fifth year for the Cynthiana Rod Run.

    To the editor:

I would personally like to take this opportunity to thank the Kirkmans, Tony Moore, Tomi Clifford and the Chamber of Commerce, the Harrison County schools’ administration and board, the countless volunteers, our elected officials, the police and fire departments.

To undertake an event, such as this, and pull it off in 60 days is nothing short of remarkable.

Cynthiana should be proud and we will remember this day for years to come.
