    What a busy year the City of Cynthiana has had so far.  We have become the busiest little town in the state.  Everywhere I go, city officials from other cities are asking me how we’ve turned our city around so quickly.  
    I tell them, “We’ve got good people who love our town and are working hard to turn it around!”  

  • Peaceful protests have their place, even in Trump’s America

    For 27 years, every school day that I taught, began with either the National Anthem or the Pledge of Allegiance.
    The building principal, or his/her designee, came over the intercom and announced the National Anthem or led us in the Pledge of Allegiance.
    About half way through my teaching career, I began to have students refuse to stand for either of those.

    Cynthiana Super Saturday kicks off the beginning of Fall this Saturday, Sept. 23.
    The Chamber of Commerce is hosting a helicopter ping-pong ball drop at 9 a.m. One thousand ping pong balls with specials, discounts and free items from over 28 participating businesses will rain down into the parking lot behind the Chamber building.

  • A son remembers his father

    (These are remarks at the John Swinford Dinner, on Sept. 14, by his son, Bill Swinford. John Swinford was a life-time lawyer, and Democratic Party supporter in Cynthiana, Harrison County and Kentucky. The Harrison County Democratic Party has renamed its annual  dinner in his honor. John Swinford passed away on Feb. 3, 2013, at the age of 81.)
