    To the editor:
It is with deep sorrow that I withdraw my candidacy for state representative. My wonderful wife Betty passed away on April 13. My heart is broken. I need time to grieve and heal, so I am withdrawing my candidacy.
I want to thank all the people who offered prayers and help. I will be forever grateful for all your kind words and actions.
    Sincerely,
    Sam Pierce
    Cynthiana, Ky.

  • A PROSECUTOR’S PERSPECTIVE

Some of you may have just finished watching “The People v. O.J. Simpson,” a cable television miniseries which detailed the so-called “trial of the century,” and you may be wondering what happens during a typical felony jury trial in Kentucky.

  • Don’t make me scream

If I hear another person say, “There’s just nothing to do in this town”, I think I’ll scream.
I’ve heard that for years, but have never deciphered what those people want, that Cynthiana doesn’t provide.
Certainly, a city pool for use  all year, would be nice. But that can’t be the only complaint the nay-sayers have.
What is there that these people so desperately want that isn’t offered in the Maiden City?

    To the editor:
As a healthcare worker I have closely followed the needle exchange debate in my hometown of Cynthiana. After reading the comments of John Chamberlain in last week’s edition I feel compelled to respond to his comments.
It is inconsistent for Chamberlin to say he stands “against anything that furthers a vice” unless he also stands against making cars that can exceed the speed limit to prevent the vice of speeding.
