  • Cynthiana High School reunion to offer a walk down Memory Lane

Cynthiana High School reunion activities planned for the weekend of June 26-27 promise a walk down Memory Lane; both figuratively and literally.
Maximize each reunion’s offering with the following itinerary:
Friday night dinner at Biancke’s kicks off the reuniting of anyone who wishes to join.
Saturday morning, take a stroll up Main Street. The first store front decorated in Uniques where three commemorative boards are on display. The exhibit depicts life during the 1950s as experienced by the honored 60-year class.

  • No primaries would be better for Cynthiana

The city of Owensboro is on to something.
For years I have pondered the need for primary elections in non-partisan races. Particularly those for Cynthiana and Berry commission races.
As it stands now, the mayor and commissioners are in a constant state of campaigning if there are enough candidates who have filed.
If more than eight people file for the city commission seats, they have to run in a May primary to narrow the field to eight. Then in November, they run again in the general election to get the four officials.

  • Ice cream social is a success

    To the editor:
The parishioners of St. Edward Catholic Church thank everyone who supported our 66th Annual Ice Cream Social. It was a great success. All proceeds benefit the operation of St. Edward School.
We very much appreciate the kindness and generosity of our local businesses which provided items for our silent auction.  We are grateful to the many members of our local churches and community who stopped by and enjoyed some of our homemade ice cream and cake. Thanks for your support.

  • Sister's nuptials lead to yearning for big wedding one day

My older sister is getting married next month. This will be her second wedding since I’ve been single. For those who like to keep score, it’s 2-1, with her in the lead.
Plus, my “wedding” when I got married at the age of 18 didn’t really count. It wasn’t a big, fancy wedding, to say the least. It was just the two of us, at home, in our jeans, and we had to go knock on the next door neighbors’ door and ask them to be our witnesses.
