  • Supports Amish community

    To the editor:
    After reading the article titled “Amish buggies cause traffic concerns for fiscal court,” I felt the need to respond by pointing out the importance and pride I felt as county Judge-executive Alex Barnett stood up for a counter-cultural existence in our community. Citing the lack of jurisdiction over religious matters, he made a very important covert point that I felt should be illuminated.  

  • We can make our own decisions

    I suppose I should be counted among those who feel that the best government is that which governs the least.
    I am not, nor have I ever been, a proponent of having rules and regulations just for the sake of having rules and regulations.
    Citizens should have unfettered freedom to do what they want, as long as their actions do not infringe on any one else’s freedoms.
    The Cynthiana City Commission is faced with making a controversial decision concerning the sale of alcoholic beverages on Sundays.

  • Summer intern excited about time in Cynthiana

    Starting any kind of job or internship in a new place is always a nervous experience, but Cynthiana continues to calm me with its compassion and comfort.
    While nearing my graduation date at Eastern Kentucky University, I had the usual butterflies most graduates-to-be experience. My mind raced with troublesome thoughts, anxiety burning its tires through the race track of my mind.

    Cynthiana Main Street has a busy summer planned. We have so many great things happening in town, too many to mention them all.
    Cynthiana Main Street will be participating in the Longest Day of Play on June 21. This free event for kids will be one you won’t want to miss.
    Come on out to Flat Run Veterans Park at 6:30 p.m. Kids can enjoy games and be registered to win a bicycle. Cynthiana Main Street will be giving away four bikes. All you have to do is show up and play games.
