  • State representatives working on an internet security bill

One of the biggest challenges in today’s connected world is making sure that our personal information remains safe.

It is becoming an increasingly difficult task, as we have seen in recent credit-card breaches at companies like Target.

  • Senate reconvenes after Martin Luther King Jr. Day

After a pause in legislative work last Monday to honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., the Senate reconvened Tuesday in a joint session with the House to hear the governor’s budget proposal.
Determining the state’s two-year budget is the most daunting, time-consuming task we undertake in the legislature.

  • Resident responds to thieves who robbed her home

    To the editor:
Happy New Year to the thieves that came into our home on Nov. 5, 2013, and took one locked gun safe, which contained seven guns, a large amount of money, and other items. It had to have taken two people to carry it out. You also took a 32-inch, flat-screen television and a floor safe that was locked and hidden in the back of my closet. The safe contained personal items, some that were sentimental, such as my father’s pocket watch.

  • Okay winter, you can go now...

I decided this week that my heavy coat -- the one I rarely wear, because, well... because let’s say I seldom get cold -- needs to be laundered.
However, with this winter’s weather, I dare not give it a good soaking for fear that I may need it before the heavy fluff has time to dry.
I’ve never been a big fan of cold weather. I could use stronger words, such as hate and detest, or loathe and abhor, but you already get my “drift.”
