  • Bill Adkins for Congress

  • Encouraging a straight Democratic ticket

    To the editor:
As I was writing my original letter of endorsement for our fine Democratic candidates, I realized that I could sum it up much better and still make my point with the following words.
I trust President Obama to keep us safe in the world.
I trust President Obama to get our economy back on track.
I trust President Obama to always keep our country moving forward.
I trust Ben Chandler to continue to be the hard-working and dedicated Congressman for the Sixth District that he has always been.

  • Send McKee back to the capitol

    To the editor:
During these crucial financial times in Kentucky it is very important for the citizens of the 78th. Legislative District to send Rep. Tom McKee back to Frankfort.
Rep. McKee is the Chairman of the House Agriculture and Small Business Committee and he is constantly looking for ways to help Kentucky farmers, small business owners and all citizens.

  • Prevention should be exercised more

    To the editor:
In light of recent events I have been left with a resonating sadness for the loss of such a young life. A teenage girl who must have felt so lost that her only option was to take her own life, how does this happen? I am forced to ask myself as a concerned parent “How is it that we are failing our youth?”
The issue of bullying is spiraling wildly out of control and lives are being lost. Not just any lives, but the lives of our youth who have barely experienced what the word “life” means.

  • Hard to beat a good thriller

Oh how I enjoy a good scary movie.
I am not referring to the types of movies where the only basis of horror is shown by a beautiful young woman, half clothed, running from a house screaming after she finds her boyfriend dead.
I am talking about some of the great horror and scary movies that leave you afraid to go home alone in the dark.
For the sake of time, I would like to rank only a few of the greats that have left me afraid of being alone in the dark over my short lifetime.

  • Re-elect Roger Slade on Nov. 6

    To the editor:
Election Day is approaching quickly.  If you are like me, you are tired of the commercials and the mud-slinging and the politics.  While the results of our national elections are important to us all, local races probably have more impact on our day to day lives.  So even if you’re not very excited to vote for our national candidates (which I encourage you to do wisely), take  seriously the impact that your vote can have here locally.  Vote in our local races!
