  • Oh boy, another round of campaigning is almost here

Who, in their right mind, would ever seek any kind of political office higher than that of a magistrate or commissioner on the local level?
Elected public officials, especially in Kentucky, do their jobs for low pay. For example, members of the General Assembly are paid $188 per day, plus an additional $141 per diem, when the legislation is in session.

  • Mailbag

    To the editor:
I have written this before and now I’m going to say it again. I hope someone will comment about this issue. I think we need a homeless shelter here in Cynthiana. There are homeless people in our town that need a place to lay their heads down at night. Surely, if our town can afford putting in many other things that we really don’t need, it can afford to put in a homeless shelter that we do need.

  • Networking is benefit for Chamber membership

The Chamber offers many opportunities for business owners and employees to network, make connections and help find new ways to encourage growth within their company or business.
One example is the upcoming Chamber luncheon. Each month, the Chamber holds a networking luncheon or breakfast, which is sponsored by participating business (which means its free to you, courtesy of said business). Different speakers come in to speak to Chamber members on community, state or educational happenings.

  • FRANKFORT FOCUS

Over the years, I have written often about issues affecting our House district and the state, but I have not mentioned much about my personal life.  This week, however, I would like to change that, in the hope my story will help others.

  • Candidate-endorsement time; some restrictions apply

It’s that time of year when candidates will begin lining up their followers to write endorsement letters to the newspaper.
We welcome those local letters. Local being the operative word here.
We won’t accept letters of mass mailings. With email so prevalent, it’s tougher to determine “mass mailings.” However, if someone sends a letter from Indianapolis endorsing one of our presidential hopefuls, it’s pretty obvious that it’s from a mailing list.
