  • Thanks to Rod Run committee

    To the editor:
I want to give a BIG shout out to Jerry Adams and his hardworking staff for the outstanding job they did this year on the Rod Run. They worked countless hours planning and preparing for this event. There was a great crowd, and who knows how many vehicles and vendor booths galore. Also the Lord blessed us with really beautiful weather.
This is something Cynthiana should be proud of and in my opinion is the biggest and best event this little town has.
Again, thanks to Jerry and his staff for all their efforts. Great job guys.

    To the editor:
The annual Cynthiana/Harrison County NAACP Scholarship Gala is just around the corner.
I would like to thank all who have helped the NAACP continue to be recognized in our community as we move forward.
This will be our 11th year celebrating the scholarship gala.
I would like to thank Mr. Andy Dotson and Mr. David Case for the use of the schools for locations for the previous 10 galas.

  • Aldridge doesn’t recognize racial, cultural slurs

    To the editor:
This letter is in response to the views expressed in “Mike’s Minute” in the July 16, 2015 edition of the Cynthiana Democrat.
In this column, Mike Aldridge defended the use of the name Washington Redskins by the NFL team as well as other derogatory terms and practices used by other professional and college teams which insult Native Americans.
It is obvious that Mike Aldridge does not recognize a racial or cultural slur.
