  • Senior Citizen Home Care is needed

    To the editor:
    I am home bound.
I depend on Senior Citizen Home Care to help with my cleanning, do my laundry and other tasks I can not do.
Please don’t do away with this program.

  • Father's Day gift

    To the editor:
On Monday, June 11, 2012 the Herald-Leader reported a Ford Tri-Motor airplane would fly from the Bluegrass Airport for three days. From 1926 to 1933 a total of 199 of these planes were built. Only eight from the total manufactured are still airworthy. The old plane coming to Lexington could be toured free, but a few minutes flight over Lexington would cost $80.

  • Head Start Picnic a huge success

    To the editor:
Harrison County Community Action Council staff would like to say thank you to the following organizations and people for helping to make our annual Head Start Picnic a huge success. Thank you to the Harrison County Volunteer Fire Department, the Cynthiana City Fire Department, and the Cynthiana Public Library, Browns EMS Service and also to McDonald’s for their donations. A special thanks to Susan French and Kens for their help and Judge Alex Barnett for his continual support of our program.

  • Ensure mail carrier safety

    To the editor:
During the spring and summer months we all like to enjoy the outdoors as much as possible. Our pets may like to be outdoors also.
Although your dog may not be known to bite or otherwise be dangerous to people in general, dogs have been known to act in an unpredictable manner around postal letter carriers.
Each year thousands of letter carriers receive bites or other physical harm from dogs. Many of these attacks result in serious injury.

  • Religions’ history is interesting read

    To the editor:
If you’re really interested in any religion or cult (even though it’s a leftist idea?) read a book regarding the Mormon’s. It’s “The History of Mormonism.” Very interesting and enlightening. Also it’s polygamy.

  • Baseball coach appreciates support for team

    To the editor:

  • Drunk driving

    To the editor:
As I was reading the paper today I wondered how many lives are we going to lose because of drunk driving? Do you think it is a coincidence that the number of wrecks has increased after the vote allowing people to buy liquor by the drink in Cynthiana? Think about it and if you are one of the people that voted to allow this, do you have trouble sleeping when you hear about people killed due to this this thing?

  • Please support Camp Hendon

    To the editor:
In February 2011, our daughter, Rachel, was diagnosed with Type I Diabetes.

  • Gossipy letters contain untruths

    To the editor:
After reading several misinformed, gossipy letters to the editor filled with untruths about the Mormon Church, I decided to set the record straight.

  • Planning and Zoning idea a bust

    To the editor:
Wow, did everyone see the front page article in the Democrat about the proposed changes to the Planning and Zoning regulations? Or should I just say restrictions since they will be very restricting to everyone, not just the farmers?
I am sure that the people who proposed these changes think they are doing something good even though they obviously have not thought it through.
