  • Memories of lace curtains. apple trees and dodging parents

August looms and as it does it brings with it the beginning of a turn in the season, but it hasn’t always been that way. Looking back and remembering Augusts when I was young, a longgg time ago, it seemed then to be one more long month of summer vacation stretching out in the brilliant sunshine.
One had done quite a bit of running, swimming, exploring and generally aggravating mothers by the first of August, and we kids were looking for new ways to use up the riches of no school and good weather.

  • Excited about a new season of Game of Thrones!

Regardless of what banner you fly within the world of Westeros, the time has come to return to the magical land once more.
Game of Thrones Season 7 aired it’s first episode on July 27th, and it was one Hell of a way to kick off a season. Last seasons conclusion left fans with a decent idea of where the story would be picking up upon it’s return, but the GOT show runners pulled off one of the most impactful season premieres of any show I’ve ever seen.

I am so stinkin’ proud of Cynthiana.
Tuesday’s Joe B. Hall mural reveal was a wonderful showing of how Cynthiana and Harrison County people want to be included in this wonderful resurgence.
I’m not a great guestimator as far as attendance at the reveal, but my best estimate is 300 or more.

It never ceases to amaze me how much is going on in Cynthiana and Harrison County.
Much has been written in this newspaper about the progressive nature of our current government leadership, and that will continue as long as those leaders continue to make decisions that are proactive and lead to a better life for all of us.

  • Inside professional wrestling at home and abroad

Those who grew up in the 90s will never forget the incredible pro-wrestling boom of the time. After coming out of a slump in the early 90s, years 96-99 saw the WWE (then WWF) garner its highest ratings in not only its history, but the history of the business.
