  • Fiscal Court gets one step closer to 2014 budget

    The Harrison County Fiscal Court is one step closer to finalizing its budget for 2014 after discussing county salaries.
    During the second budget workshop, which was held last Tuesday, April 2, the fiscal court took a good look at salaries for county employees.
    However, much time was spent discussing issues brought up by the fiscal court about the Economic Development budget and request for increase in pay for its director.

    When I opened my email this morning, I discovered that I can “melt away” belly fat with a fascinating new paint.
    Paint?
    That’s what it said. However, after reading beyond the heading, I found it was a miraculous plant.
    If I would click the link I could find out more.
    Or, another email boasted being able to teach a language in just 10 days!
    I have my doubts.

  • New laws added to help secure state retirement

    For the better part of the past year, there was no doubt what the biggest issue of the 2013 Regular Session would be: Stabilizing our public retirement systems for state and local government employees and their retirees.
    Initially, it seemed as if the House and Senate would not be able to find common ground as both sides took different approaches to solve the problem.  
    With the help of Gov. Beshear, however, leaders from both chambers were able to sit down and find a way that most members could support.
