  • Democrat needs pictures from the past and present

Before you know it 2013 will be over.
However, before we get to the Rockin’ New Year’s Eve, there are some very important things coming your way.
The much-loved Taste of Home Cooking School, which is hosted by The Cynthiana Democrat and Cynthiana Lions Club in cooperation with Ken’s NewMarket is coming Tuesday, Nov. 12.
If you’ve never been, you should consider making this year a first.

  • Is there no sympathy for the health insurance industry?

Ever since I began writing at the Democrat, I have brought along a backpack that contains, among other items, a pair of sneakers, a t-shirt, and shorts. Every morning I tell myself that, after work, I’m going to head right out to Veterans Park and spend at least a half hour walking. Or maybe I’ll even run a bit … at least to the point where it hurts a bit.

  • Turner, Tribble never stopped being educators

Harrison County lost two of its best cheerleaders recently.

I’m not talking about pompom-waving, kicking and yelling cheerleaders. I’m talking about two men who could only do good and say good about their county.

  • How our spirit got civilized

In just over a week from now, on Sunday, Sept. 29, the First United Methodist Church in Cynthiana is going to celebrate its 195th anniversary. In five years, of course, the church will be celebrating its bicentennial, a major milestone for any church to celebrate.
Earlier this week, I interviewed Bro. Mike Coppersmith and former Cynthiana Mayor Virgie Wells, who serves as the church historian, about the church’s history and to find out how the congregation planned to celebrate this event. It will be a feature story for next week, so be looking for it.
