  • Extension Homemakers plan winter trip

    Harrison County Extension Homemakers are planning a winter day trip to Wheeling, W.Va. in December to the Festival of Lights.
    We will leave on Tuesday, Dec. 4 from the Extension Office at 7 a.m. and arrive at Wheeling around 3 p.m. We will have dinner (included) at the historic Wilson Lodge. We will then visit the Winter Fantasy Laser Light Show and Train display from 6:30- 7:30 p.m. and end with a guided tour of the Festival of Lights from 7:30-9:30 p.m.

    ANDERSON
    The Anderson reunion will be held Sunday, Aug. 5 at Antioch Mills Christian Church with a potluck meal at 1 p.m. Drink and table service provided.

    COPES
    The 41st annual Copes family reunion will be held on Sunday, Aug. 5 at the Raphael Patrick fellowship hall at Curry United Methodist Church. A potluck lunch will be served at 1 p.m. All family and friends are invited to attend.

    Missionary David Parks will be speaking at Calvary Assembly on Sunday, Aug. 12 at 10:45 a.m. He formerly started churches in Azerbaijan and is now going to start churches in Great Britain. Calvary Assembly is located at 325 Webster Ave.
    Youth Service Sunday, Aug. 19 at 10:45 a.m. at Calvary Assembly under the leadership of Bud Gauze, Youth Pastor, the youth will lead the entire service. This will include worship, speaking, special music and drama.

    Traffic Cases
    The following information from the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office indicates drivers and/or owners whose vehicles were involved in accidents.

    July 22 – At 7:33 p.m., a non-injury accident was reported on Oddville Sunrise Road. Stephanie Price was traveling on Oddvile Sunrise Road when a deer jumped into the road causing her to swerve and exit the road, striking a tree.

    Case reports
    July 10 – At 12:07 p.m., Jeff Wilson, Marshall Avenue, reported that sometime between 6 p.m. on July 9 and 11:30 a.m. on July 10 someone took two red gas cans filled with gasoline from the back porch of his residence.
    July 10 – At 3:05 p.m., Brandon Cummins, Hillside Drive, reported that a Toshiba laptop computer and carrying case were taken from his residence while he and his wife were away.
