  • Hope for ‘Good (and not-so Good) Daughters’

    When my sister was little, she wiped spaghetti sauce from her mouth with a piece of bread.

    This is a significant event in our family’s history because, as the Good Daughter, it is probably the one and only time Peggy ever got in trouble.

    In a nanosecond, Peggy did the bread-wipe and Dad reached over and whacked her hand, which stunned us all. Not that Dad whacked one of us, but that it was Peggy — the Good Daughter!

  • Tennis team returns solid core of players

    The Harrison County tennis coaches greeted a solid group of returning veterans as they prepare to begin another season on the Hilltop.

    First-year Coach Kara Mattox and her veteran assistant coaches, Betsy and Dr. Jim Clyde, Phyllos and Dr. Roy Ross, and conditioning coach Ron Markley have 20 girls and 11 boys competing for time in the upcoming matches.

  • Thorobreds’ season ends as Clark Co. rolls in region 77-31

    The basketball season came to an end for the Harrison County Thorobreds Thursday night as they fell to George Rogers Clark in the opening game of the 10th Region tourney. 

    The game was never close as GRC scored the first eight points of the game, and after a Jared Martin three pointer, the next seven points to lead 15-3 at the end of the first period.

  • Ag tour to Alaska being planned

    For several years citizens of Harrison County have shown a desire to discover the Alaskan Territory and its beauty. A committee has put together initial plans for a trip to Alaska in late July. Final plans have not been made but should be completed later this month. If you have an interest to take part in this trip or hear the details before making your final decision, call the Harrison County Extension Office at 859-234-5510.
