  • Taylors to celebrate 25th anniversary

    Dwight (Buddy) Taylor and Karen Taylor of Cynthiana will celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary on Aug. 28.
    Buddy is employed by Harrison Machine Shop and Karen is a housewife.
    The couple has one son, Chris Taylor of Cynthiana and one granddaughter, Chesney Taylor of Cynthiana.

  • Wells-Meade exchange vows

    Jennifer Alayne Wells of Cynthiana and Bretton Taylor Meade of Hagerhill, Ky., were united in holy matrimony on June 23, 2012 at 6 p.m. at Southland Christian Church in Lexington.
    The bride’s uncle, Ray Moncrief, officiated the ceremony. Music was provided by Justin Wells (brother of the bride), vocalist and guitarist, and Aaron Graham, pianist. A reception followed at Waveland State Historic Site in Lexington.

  • Democratic Woman’s Club’s annual auction/fundraiser event will be Aug. 27

    The Harrison County Democratic Woman’s Club met Friday, July 27 at Hospice with Layne Tussey catering the event. Michelle Barnett, president, presided and welcomed everyone. The blessing was given by Sue McKee and also led the Democratic Creed and Pledge of Allegiance.

    Mia Shea Moore was born to Jason and Amber Moore of Cold Spring, Ky., on March 15, 2012 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center.
    She weighed 9 lbs. 3 oz. and is welcomed by her brothers, Ryan and Spencer and sister Emma.
    Maternal grandparents are Debbie and Gary Hill of Cynthiana; maternal great-grandmother is Rosemary Ritchie.
    Paternal grandparents are Patti and Mark Wasson of Cynthiana.

  • Open registration for scholarship pageant is Saturday in Paris

    Open registration for Miss Thoroughbred of the Bluegrass Scholarship Pageant will be held Saturday, Aug. 25, 3-6 p.m. at Twisted Masters Hair Studio, 604 E. Main St., Paris, Ky.
    The pageant will be held Sept. 9 at Bourbon County High School and is open to statewide participants.
    This is the first step to Miss America and gives an opportunity to participate in the Miss Kentucky Scholarship Program.

    The Harrison County High School Class of 1992 will hold its 20th reunion on Saturday, Sept. 8, at the Cynthiana Country Club from 8 p.m. to 12 a.m.
    The cost is $30 per couple or $20 individual. Cost includes finger foods and music.

  • Kings offer $5,000 reward for missing coonhound

    For the second time in two months, Chester and Robin King are searching for a missing family pet.
    This time, they are pulling out all stops and offering a $5,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest and conviction of anyone who stole or killed their Walker Coonhound.
    Pretty Girl has been missing since Aug. 10, just three weeks after their Rat Terrier Petie went missing.
    Chester suspects that Pretty Girl was taken because he found empty meat packages at the end of his driveway on Riley Mill Road, which is near Claysville.
