  • Holiday Foods Workshop Nov. 16

    To get you ready for the holidays, Harrison County Extension Homemakers are preparing for their annual Holiday Foods Workshop. “In The Mood for Food” is this year’s theme for the dinner. Mark the date now on your calendar to attend this sit down, white table cloth dinner on Nov. 16. Dinner will start at 6:30 p.m. with 4-H’ers serving: two meats, two salads, three side dishes, bread, one drink and three deserts will be prepared by Extension Homemakers for you to taste. You can purchase tickets at the Harrison County Extension Office for $10 per person.

  • Tim Tebow, Cocoa Krispies and faith

    Pam Tebow, mother of University of Florida Gator quarterback Tim Tebow, told the story of her son buying Cocoa Krispies.

    She recently spoke to a packed crowd at a local church about being a person of influence.

    She said her son “Timmy” normally doesn’t eat sweets, but this one time they were at the store together and he put a box of Cocoa Krispies in the shopping cart.

    A little boy, a Tebow fan, saw the box of cereal and told his mom, “Tim Tebow eats Cocoa Krispies!” and he wanted some, too.

    Oct. 24 at 1:50 p.m. -- injury, Durbintown Road, Tamer Rousseau, 32, Dry Ridge, Ky., driving a 1996 Chevrolet Blazer.

  • Hudgins competes at FFA Convention in Indiana

    Tanner Allen Hudgins of Harrison County FFA Chapter, in Kentucky was named a national finalist in the Agricultural Mechanics Repair and Maintenance Entrepreneurship Proficiency award program in July, 2009. Four finalists competed in October to be named the national winner during the 82nd National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Ind. Hudgins was named the runner-up at the convention this past week.

Topics and speakers will be "Simple Ways to Lose Weight" by Jara Bauer; "Convenient Ways to Get Moving" by Phil Williams; "Getting A Good Nights Rest" by Renay Hickman; and "What You  Need to Know About Skin Cancer" by Dr. James Morgan.

  • Pep Club asks for ‘black out’ at Friday’s game

    The Harrison County High School Pep Club is asking that fans of Thorobred football wear black to Friday’s football game on the Hilltop.

    The ‘black out’ is a showing of school spirit, said Joe Nichols, Pep Club advisor. He said he would like to see as many people as possible wearing black T-shirts, sweatshirts or coats.
