    Sara Jenkins of Cynthiana has been accepted to attend Union College in the fall semester of 2012.
    Sara is the daughter of Mark and Kim Jenkins.
    Located in Barbouville, Ky., Union College offers an educational experience where students receive personal attention to help make their educational experience successful. At Union, the average professor-to-student ratio is 14:1, so students can expect small class sizes and close interactions with instructors. Union is a four-year liberal arts school related to the United Methodist Church

  • Kacey Muntz

    Bluegrass Community and Technical College (BCTC) Dental Hygiene student, Kacey L. Muntz, has been named the 2011 recipient of the L.R. Bean Dental Radiology Award.
    The award is named for Dr. L. R. Bean who taught dental radiology at Lexington Community College (now BCTC) for more than 17 years. In 1991, he created an endowment for a dental hygiene student who showed ‘empathy with patients, a sense of humor, and exceptional abilities in the area of oral radiology.’ Since Bean’s death, his family has continued to sponsor the scholarship.

  • Middletons to observe 50th anniversary

    Scott and Evelyn Middleton of Cynthiana will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversay. They were married March 3, 1962, and have a daughter, son-in-law and a granddaughter.

  • McMichael-Ritchie plan April wedding

    Mr. and Mrs. Terry McMichael of Cynthiana, Ky., announce the engagement of their daughter, Terri Brooke McMichael, to Christopher Jordan Ritchie, son of Chris Ritchie and Kristin Ecklar.
    McMichael graduated from Harrison County High School in 2007 and Bluegrass Community and Technical College in 2010, and is a registered nurse at Harrison Memorial Hospital. She is the granddaughter of Rosalie Tunks and the late Willie L. Tunks and Bonnie Shawler and Joe McMichael.

  • Frymans to celebrate anniversary

    Hargis Jr. and Ruth Fryman will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary on March 1. They were married March 1, 1952 at The First Church of God, Cynthiana, by the Rev. Jack Williams.
    They are the parents of Tammy (Huck) Bruce and Hargis (Cathy) Fryman III, and the grandparents of Dalton (Ashton) Fryman, Jaclyn Fryman and Logan Bruce.

    Feb. 17 -- Jonathan T. Wilson, 46, was given a warning for speeding on US 27 South.
    Feb. 17 -- Todd H. Antrobus, 44, was given a warning for speeding on US 27 South.
    Feb. 17 -- Angela D. Curzio, 34, was issued a warning for failure to wear seat belt while traveling South Walnut Street.

    The following information from the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office indicates drivers and/or owners whose vehicles were involved in accidents.

    Feb. 8 – At 3:26 a.m., a non-injury accident was reported on KY 392. William Cash was traveling on KY 392 when a deer jumped in front of him.
    Feb. 17 – At 10:40 a.m., a non-injury accident was reported on US 27. Tammy Fuller was traveling on Us 27 when she lost control of her vehicle and hit a culvert.
