    A rich burgundy leatherette with a gold embossed emblem featuring our historic courthouse will provide the cover for the Harrison County History and Families Book, as a result of a recent vote of the Harrison County Historical Society.

    I think our county would be proud of how well we did at the Kentucky State Fair. Our very own Harrison County FFA members worked very hard on their entries of tobacco, hay and flowers, not to mention the livestock shows and contests they competed in.

  • High school renovation to add new gas lines

    Among the current change orders in the Harrison County High School renovation will be the addition of new gas lines for the building’s heating and cooling system, David Case, assistant superintendent, said at the regular meeting of the Harrison County School Board Tuesday night, Aug. 27.
    Tests on the existing gas lines, some of which are buried deep beneath the foundation of the high school, have revealed that the system is not holding enough pressure to keep the school compliant with established building codes, Case explained.

  • HMH receives infection control award

    When patients are admitted to Harrison Memorial Hospital (HMH), each one can be confident the best care is given by the most educated and trained medical staff in the area. Case in point, the staff at HMH has recently undergone extensive training to enhance patient care focused on preventing a common healthcare-acquired infection called catheter-associated urinary tract infection (CAUTI).

  • MCTC/LVC announces new instructor

    Paul Burgess is the new instructor of reading and writing at the Licking Valley Campus of Maysville Community and Technical College.  
    Burgess will be teaching such courses as English 101 and 102, Reading 20 and 30, Developmental Writing ENC 90 and 91. Burgess will also be designing some literature courses to teach.  
    Burgess is originally from Hilton Head Island, S.C. He has a Bachelor’s of Arts in English and Spanish from the University of South Carolina in Beaufort and a Masters in Renaissance Literature from the University of Alabama.
