    Wedco District Home Health Agency has been named a 2013 Home Health Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HHCAHPS) Honors recipient, a prestigious award recognizing those home health agencies that provide the best patient experience.

  • McKee named honorary member at KEAFCS awards luncheon

    The Kentucky Extension Association of Family and Consumer Sciences names Rep. Tom McKee as its 2013 Honorary Member. The honor was presented at the KEAFCS Awards Luncheon at the Embassy Suites in Lexington by Harrison County FCS agent Benita Peoples. He was nominated by Dr. Ann Vail, Director of the School of Human Environmental Sciences.

    The 149th Vertical Construction Company has completed its most recent tour in Afghanistan and is now stateside in Texas, according to family members.

    Family and friends still have not been notified when the soldiers will return to Cynthiana. However, they are anticipating a pre-Christmas reunion.

    The nine jury trials that were originally set for Tuesday, Dec. 10, were dealt with prior to the trial date.

    Some of the trials were continued while other defendants changed their pleas to guilty, according to court documents.

  • High school choir gets a unique educational experience at Disney

    In addition to performing for visitors in Disney World’s Epcot Center last Friday night, two singers from Harrison County’s High School Choir made it through auditions to perform solo at the American Idol experience at Hollywood Studios Park on Saturday.
    The HCHS Choir escaped the oncoming winter weather when they left for Orlando on Wednesday afternoon. The timing could not have been better, Michelle Hassall, choir director, said.
    The high school choir took 30 singers to participate in the Disney Candlelight Processional at Epcot Center.

  • Beware of utility scam

    Last week, a Blue Grass Energy member received a phone call from a man claiming to be from Blue Grass Energy. The caller informed the member that his meter had to be changed and his power would be off for 72 hours. If he could pay $900 on a prepaid debit card, the process could be expedited.
    This is a utility scam that has been running in multiple states since the summer.
