  • Five indicted on federal charges

    Five individuals from Cynthiana were indicted by a federal grand jury in U.S. District Court on federal bank robbery charges.

    The four men and one woman are facing charges relative to six bank robberies, four of which were in Harrison County, with a total cache of $36,000, according to a Tuesday press release from the U.S. Attorney's Office Eastern District of Kentucky in Lexington.

  • Runners compete at Dunbar Invitational

    The Harrison County Thorobreds and Fillies cross country teams traveled to Masterson Station Park in Lexington on Saturday for the Dunbar Invitational. Both teams enjoyed the outstanding weather and followed up with top-notch finishes.

    The varsity boys had one of their best races of the year and placed sixth in a 10-team field.

  • Breds, Fillies prep for district tournaments

    Both the Harrison County Thorobreds and Harrison County Fillies have one more regular season game on their respective schedules, with both 24th District Soccer Tournaments set to begin at Stonerside Field in Paris.

    Both teams are looking to try and snare some momentum heading into the post-season, and both teams will get a final chance to do that tonight.

  • Golf championship hampered by rain

    Polly Whalen was only able to get in three holes in the first round of the Leachman Pontiac- Buick - GMC/KHSAA Girls’ State Golf Championship at the Bowling Green Country Club on Tuesday.

    Whalen, a junior at Harrison County High School, was scheduled to tee off at 1:15, CST, on Tuesday afternoon, but didn’t hit her opening tee shot until 5:15. At about 11 a.m. heavy rain, thunder and lightening forced suspension of play. By 3:30 p.m., the thunder and lightening had left the area, and the players were sent back on the course in a steady rain.
