    Traffic Cases
    The following information from the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office indicates drivers and/or owners whose vehicles were involved in accidents.

    July 22 – At 7:33 p.m., a non-injury accident was reported on Oddville Sunrise Road. Stephanie Price was traveling on Oddvile Sunrise Road when a deer jumped into the road causing her to swerve and exit the road, striking a tree.

    Case reports
    July 10 – At 12:07 p.m., Jeff Wilson, Marshall Avenue, reported that sometime between 6 p.m. on July 9 and 11:30 a.m. on July 10 someone took two red gas cans filled with gasoline from the back porch of his residence.
    July 10 – At 3:05 p.m., Brandon Cummins, Hillside Drive, reported that a Toshiba laptop computer and carrying case were taken from his residence while he and his wife were away.

    Diana Rene Allen is a 2012 graduate of Midway College with a bachalers degree in Interdisciplemary Studies with emphasis in English and Elementary Education.
    She is the wife of David Allen and the mother of Sarah Rene and Carolyn Jean. She is the daughter of Tom and Teresa Dailey.
    Allen is a 2006 graduate of Harrison County High School.

  • McCarty receives the KFC employee scholarship

    The KFC Colonel’s Employee Scholarship was founded to honor the memory of Colonel Harland Sanders. To continue to honor the Colonel’s passion for education, KFC announced the first group of KFC Colonel’s Employee Scholarship winners.
    Ashley McCarty of Cynthiana was named to the first class of the Colonel’s Employee Scholarship.
    This scholarship is reserved for hourly team members and shift managers (both traditional and non-traditional students) and can be used to pay for college, technical school or graduate school.

  • Watch for bagworms

    Who among us is guilty of not noticing something until it’s too late?  
    Yes, all of a sudden there is nothing left of your blue spruce or arborvitae.Bagworms have been munching on the needles for weeks and we wonder how it all happened.  
    Well, they are at work right now so go outside and take inventory of your evergreens because that’s what the bagworm likes the most.
    Now is the time they do their damage unless we put a stop to it.
    Ten years ago or so I saw the worst bagworm infestation I have ever seen in my life.  

  • Continuous sign-up for CRP Highly Erodible Land Initiative announced

    The Kentucky USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA) announces that continuous sign-up for the  Highly Erodible Land (HEL)  Initiative under the Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) started on July 23, 2012. Kentucky received a total allocation of 39,400 acres to enroll in the HEL CRP program. Offers will be accepted until either the state acreage allocation limit is reached or Sept. 30, 2012 whichever occurs first.
