  • Local student qualifies to compete at world’s largest junior high rodeo

    Haley Fauste, a sixth grade student at Harrison County Middle School, has earned a position on the Kentucky National Junior High rodeo team and will be traveling with fellow teammates to Gallup, N.M. June 24-30 to compete at the eighth annual National Junior High Finals Rodeo (NJHFR) in the barrel racing, goat tying, ribbon roping, breakaway roping and pole bending competitions.

    Case reports
    May 17 – At 11:01 p.m., Donnie Crump, Poplar Street, reported that all four tires on his 2003 Chevrolet van had been slashed while it was parked on Pearl Street. Police arrested Jonathan Moore charging him with alcohol intoxication.
    May 18 – At 3:02 p.m., Seth Smith of Walmart security, reported that Janessa Jolly entered the store and put items in her purse. Jolly was arrested and charged with theft by unlawful taking, shoplifting.

    Traffic Cases
    The following information from the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office indicates drivers and/or owners whose vehicles were involved in accidents.

    May 26 – At 8:25 p.m., a fatal accident was reported on US 62. Raymond Wiedemer was traveling on US 62 when he lost control of his vehicle causing him to drive over an earth embankment and into several trees. Weidemer and a passenger, Austin Quesenberry were killed. Another passenger, Jeremy Jolly, sustained injuries and was airlifted to the University of Kentucky Medical Center.
