*Log Cabin, Nov. 11, 1905 -- “The first newspaper in Cynthiana was the ‘Guardian of Liberty’ published from Jan. 18, 1817 to March 13, 1819, possibly longer by John G. Keenan in the Redmon building on Court Square. ‘The Cynthiana Advertiser’ was established in 1821, continuing until 1827, ‘The Gleaner’ and the ‘Visitor,’ the latter a literary paper, were published from 1830 to about 1838. ‘The Cynthiana News’ was established in 1850 by John Atkinson and was purchased in 1851 by Major A. J. Morey.”

CIVIL CASES

Stephanie Bruin vs. Chad Bruin, motion hour; agreed order of support entered.

Three of the five individuals accused of robbing or being accomplices to area bank robberies have entered guilty pleas to their charges. The remaining two will be on trial next week.

On Friday, Nov. 26, Jeffrey Allen Pratt, 30, pleaded guilty to two central Kentucky bank robberies in U.S. District Court in Lexington.

Pratt admitted to robbing the Oddville Avenue branch of Farmers National Bank in Cynthiana on Aug. 18 as well as the Farmers National Bank in Falmouth on Aug. 6. The two banks are independent of each other.

To the editor, 

I would like to know why Cynthiana does not have a dog warden? Harrison County has one.

The reason I am concerned about this is for months I have had a problem with my neighbor’s dogs. The police chief told me the problem would be taken care of months ago, the code enforcement officer tells me something different every time I talk to him and suggested I call the dog warden,  who laughed and told me that he works for the county, and they were “passing the buck.”
