  • There should have been a quicker reaction at Penn State

    Last week we all should have been focused on being thankful for the veterans who gave their all and continue to do so for our country.  
    There were many different ceremonies before the college games and professional games that were played this weekend, but none was any better than the one at Williamsburg High School Friday night.
    I was part of the officiating crew for the second round playoff game at the Whitley County school and witnessed this ceremony.

  • Harrison County Girl Scouts benefit from group’s new website

    Girl Scouts of Kentuckiana has launched a major redesign of its website, gskentuckiana.org. The redesign includes a streamlined homepage, plus added features that make it easier for local users to find out about events and troops in the council’s Southern Indiana service area, which includes Harrison County.

    The following information from the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office indicates drivers and/or owners whose vehicles were involved in accidents.

    Nov. 4 – At 6:50 a.m., a non-injury accident was reported on US 62. John Link was traveling on US 62 when he lost control in a curve and slammed into a rock embankment before coming to a rest.

    Nov. 4 -- Michael E. Foster, 21, was cited on Ashbrook for having no registration plate.
    Nov. 4 -- Edward N. Jones, 55, was arrested on West Pleasant Street and charged with DUI.
    Nov. 5 -- Samantha L. Shirley, 19, was issued a warning on Church Street for disregarding a stop sign.
