  • Scholastic Book Fair to begin Nov. 30 at HCHS

    The Scholastic Book Fair will begin Nov. 30 during third period and end Dec. 7 at noon in the Harrison County High School library. There will be many best sellers for teens, as well as some adult titles for sale. Many non-fiction books, such as cookbooks included. Proceeds to help the library get new materials.
    While there, put some silver change in the coin war jars. Help your favorite class win the Spirit Stick for raising the most money during the Coin War. Don’t put in pennies. They count against the amount in that jar.

    The Campbellsville University Concert Chorus will present part one of Mendelssohn’s “Elijah” on Tuesday, Nov. 27, at 8 p.m. in the sanctuary of Campbellsville Baptist Church, located at 530 North Central Ave., Campbellsville Ky.
    “Elijah” is a major oratorio by Mendelssohn that tells the story of the Biblical character, Elijah, in various historical settings.

  • NHOA collecting holiday gifts for nursing home residents

    The Nursing Home Ombudsman Agency of the Bluegrass (NHOA), which includes Harrison County, is once again accepting holiday gifts to fulfill gift wishes of residents living in nursing homes.  Now in its fourth year, the Silver Bells Holiday Gift Drive brings a little extra cheer for residents who will otherwise receive no gifts during the holidays.

    Traffic Cases
    The following information from the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office indicates drivers and/or owners whose vehicles were involved in accidents.
    Nov. 9 – At 6:59 p.m., a non-injury accident was reported on KY 1054 four miles from town. Kimberly King was traveling on KY 1054 when a deer came into the road causing her to hit the deer.
    Nov. 15 – At 7:30 a.m., a non-injury accident was reported on US 27 10 miles from town. Dawn Barnes was traveling on US 27 when a deer came into the road causing her to hit the deer.
