  • Three arrested in connection with animal shelter thefts

    Three Lexington residents are behind bars following their alleged involvement in the January break-in at the Flora Shropshire Animal Shelter.

    Monique Watts, 22, Timothy Watts, 24, and William K. Jackson, 29, were arrested late last week on charges of third degree burglary, second degree criminal mischief and theft.

    “More charges may be filed against one for intimidating a witness,” Cpl. Walter Tapp of the Cynthiana Police Department said Friday.

  • Harrison County freshmen take boys’ district title

    The Harrison County boys’ freshman basketball team defeated both Pendleton and Nicholas counties to win the 38th District Championship last week.

    The games were played in Nicholas County last Thursday. The first game saw the young Thorobreds pull out to a 12-point lead in the first period and continue to add to it as the game progressed. The Breds, once again, used their superior bench to keep fresh players in the game to out man the freshman Wildcats.
