    Cooper Allen Justice was born to Mindy Miller and Steven Justice of Cynthiana on June 29, 2012 at Central Baptist Hospital.
    He weighed 6 lbs. 5 oz., and is welcomed by his sister, Jayca Kiersten Justice.
    Maternal grandparents are Carol Miller and Troy Miller of Cynthiana.
    Paternal grandparents are Teresa and Montie Justice of Shelbiana.

  • Students, Parents get ready for schools' opening on Tuesday

    In just a few short days the 2012-13 school year will get underway.
    Stores will likely be bustling this weekend with the last-minute back-to-school shopping... and students are eager to get back into the classroom.
    This is where you hear the familiar sound of a record being scratched.
    OK, not every student is ready to go back, but don’t you remember the excitement of the first day of school?

  • Firefighter's funeral

    A firefighter’s funeral processessional was held Thursday for former Harrison County Volunteer firefighter William Cline. Cline was a firefighter for 31 years. He died July 22 and was 76 years old. The processional included firetrucks from Paris, Georgetown, Cynthiana, Harrison County and Mt. Olivet.

  • Harrison County courthouse will close Aug. 6 for state furlough

    The Harrison County Judicial Center as well as courthouses will be closed statewide and all court services will be unavailable Monday, Aug. 6, as the Kentucky Judicial Branch shuts down for the first of three furlough days in 2012.
    The furloughs will affect only non-elected court personnel, who will be off work without pay as part of the Judicial Branch’s Fiscal Year 2013 Budget Reduction Plan.
    The entire court system will be closed Monday, Aug. 6; Tuesday, Sept. 4; and Monday, Oct. 15.

  • Wilder-Anton wed in garden ceremony

    Mike and Laura Wachter of Cynthiana, Ky., and George Wm. Wilder II of Lexington, Ky., announce the marriage of their daughter Whitney Lebus Wilder to Joshua Jacob Anton. Anton is the son of Gregg and Lisa Anton and Steve and Kim Powell of Mansfield, Ohio.
    The garden wedding was held at 5 p.m. at the Bodley Bullock House in Lexington, Ky. on May 26, 2012. A dinner and dance reception followed at the Spring Valley Golf Club.
    Bridal attendants were Anna Rush, maid of honor, Cassie Maribeto, Ann Sydney Taylor, Amanda Boers and Lindsey Beaudry.

  • Extension Homemakers plan winter trip

    Harrison County Extension Homemakers are planning a winter day trip to Wheeling, W.Va. in December to the Festival of Lights.
    We will leave on Tuesday, Dec. 4 from the Extension Office at 7 a.m. and arrive at Wheeling around 3 p.m. We will have dinner (included) at the historic Wilson Lodge. We will then visit the Winter Fantasy Laser Light Show and Train display from 6:30- 7:30 p.m. and end with a guided tour of the Festival of Lights from 7:30-9:30 p.m.

    The Anderson reunion will be held Sunday, Aug. 5 at Antioch Mills Christian Church with a potluck meal at 1 p.m. Drink and table service provided.

    COPES
    The 41st annual Copes family reunion will be held on Sunday, Aug. 5 at the Raphael Patrick fellowship hall at Curry United Methodist Church. A potluck lunch will be served at 1 p.m. All family and friends are invited to attend.
